The 5 Best (and Free) Apps for Productivity

Apps for productivity. Simply put, they are helpful, free tools that can help you be more organized and productive.

How awesome is that?

So, you want to be more productive at work and home? These five apps for productivity will help you manage your time, prioritize tasks, and improve your concentration. Check them out!

Apps For Productivity: Note Taking Like a Pro With Evernote

I start with Evernote, not because it’s the favorite but because it’s probably the Evernote APPmost popular app on my list. If you have any desire to keep up with ideas, thoughts, names, codes, or your dog’s birthday, this is the cream of the crop.

Evernote is a note taking application on steroids. It makes it easy to create and organize notes, while also allowing you to quickly search your notes for keywords to avoid having to find where you’ve stored it. This clearly makes it one of the best apps for productivity out there.

Apps For Productivity You Should Try: De-Stress and Find Your Center With Headspace

By far this is my favorite meditation app out there. It is beneficial to your brain and well-being in so many ways and can lead to a significant increase in productivity and decrease in stress levels.

Headspace Meditation AppHeadspace is truly in a league of its own when compared to other meditation apps. It provides infinite guided meditations that make the experience easy and enjoyable. You never feel uncomfortable or annoyed due to its natural relaxing and reassuring tone. The application’s strength is in its motivation to the user.

Apps For Productivity You Should Try: Get Your S**t Together With Coach Me

Coach Me (formerly known as Lift) is all about helping you create habits and reach Coach Megoals. It makes tracking your habits quick and easy. It helps keep you on track with timely reminders, and gives you extra motivation by linking you with other users trying to introduce the same habits. Its monotony is where it thrives.

You only add something that you want to do X amount of times a week, and it adds it to your list. Every time you’ve completed an article you just swipe to check mark the item, keeping track of how many times you did the habit/goal that week. It’s an excellent way to discover different methods or ideas of helping you stay on track.

It does a great job of making you focus on a single list of items. Unfortunately, I think one of our biggest downfalls of not reaching our goals is our tendency of trying to do too much. Focus on a few key habits and the other things are more likely to fall into place.

Apps For Productivity You Should Try: Master The To-Do List With Wunderlist

For those individuals who live and die by the to-list, this app is for you. You can Wonderlist Appcreate as many lists as you want, manage them with ease, and check off items joyfully every time you complete something.

The feature that pushes Wunderlist to the front of its class is the way the lists are easily shared and edited by multiple people.

You can create all kinds of lists, such as places to travel to, business ideas, or gifts to buy the kids. If you’re a list person, you will be pleasantly surprised with this gem of an app.

Apps For Productivity You Should Try: Ye Old Trusty Friend, the Alarm

The alarm is not the best, but the most critical application. When it comes down to it, remembering what you need or want to do, is THE key factor in improving your life and managing your time. I know a reminder app is not some bright new idea.

You can set reminders to go off at whatever times and days of the week, helping you to be reminded at just the right times so that you are less likely to shrug off the notification. It makes a quick and easy to snooze the reminder for a specific amount of time until you finally do it.

At the heart of all great apps for productivity is a solution to a particular problem. Some look toward efficiency, aiming to take an existing product, such as email, and make it easier to use, so we waste less time futzing with it. Others seek to silence the noise of the net, bolster collaboration, or unite different data.

Those discussed above are the top five free apps for productivity which will help you manage your time, prioritize tasks, and improve your concentration.

Best Ways to Impress Your Boss (No Questions Asked)

How To Impress Your Boss

Impress Your Boss in 10 Easy Steps

When you’re working in a big office, sometimes it’s hard to get noticed. And while that may not seem like a big deal at first, you can end up being overlooked for future projects. Ouch. Instead of blending into the background, impress your boss and learn to stand out and show your capabilities.

1. Know Your Goals When You’re at Work

Obviously your goal is to work for the benefit of the company and the objectives it has. But keep in mind that your boss’s goals must become your goals. You should set your priorities to achieve the results your boss wants to see. This way, you will be noticed and your work will be rewarded.

An easy way to set goals for yourself at work is to start writing down a list of tasks you want to accomplish that day, week, and even month. Next, you want to organize the tasks and break them up so that they’re manageable. Remember that sometimes it’s best to get the difficult stuff out of the way, that way as you cross things off the list, tasks get easier and easier. It’s important to also do a check-in with your progress every once in a while. Sometimes this can help you re-evaluate your process and your goals, making it easier to identify what to do next.

2. Understand How You Will Be Evaluated By Your Employer

Use the feedback you get from time to time on how you do your job. You should try to see what are the qualities and skills that your manager emphasizes on. Then make sure you improve on these qualities in order to work towards a perfect rating. As long as you make some type of progress, you’ll be recognized for your efficiency.

3. Fulfill Your Duties On Time and With Accuracy

When you are asked to finish a task, try to provide the best results possible. You should not set your limits to the attributions written in your job description. Prove that you are a person your boss can always rely on. Also, an extra effort from your side will make you seem like a true professional. And therefore, your boss will see you as someone who wants to advance in his career.

4. Be Positive Around Others, Even if They Aren’t

Remember, don’t be the one who always complains to your boss. Rather try to be the one that motivates others with positive energy. If you want to get promoted, then you have to prove you’re a nice person who knows how to motivate others.

5. Try Not to Put Your Boss in Delicate Situations

To impress your boss, you should meet the deadlines you have for completing your projects. That means your job should be done professionally. It’s up to you to make improvements on your projects. And remember to avoid extending your deadline. Moreover, help your boss to come up with new ideas to develop the department you are part of. You will thus become his right hand and a reliable person.

6. Be Organized in Order to Stay on Top of Tasks

As always, do not leave things to chance. Before the end of each working day , draw up a list of your tasks that you have to complete the following day.

Be punctual and respect your rules. This proves once again that you’re a person that your boss can always rely on.

7. Stay Informed About Your Field and Latest Trends in the Industry

You keep yourself informed on all the latest news in your field and attend courses. This is done by reading online articles and magazines with relevant information to your profession.

Some problems are so complex that you have to be highly intelligent and well informed just to be undecided about them. – Laurence J. Peter

This way, when you’ll come across a complex problem, you will be able to find the answer in a creative and innovative way.

8. Be Flexible With Your Time and Work to Show Your Dedication

Sometimes you will be needed to work for some extra hours when there is a deadline to meet. But you should not make a fuss out of it and do not comment on the situation. Even if it’s not ideal, try to do your job as good as you can – quickly and efficiently.

9. Be an Adult and Leave Your Personal Life at Home

Life is hard, and we all have bad days sometimes. And no matter where you work it’s important to keep your personal problems outside of the workplace.

10. Help Out Your Teammates and Ask For Help In Return

Lending a helping hand to other team members in their roles is a great way to impress your boss. This makes the whole team perform better leading to increased productivity.

But asking questions also shows that you’re interested in learning more, so don’t be afraid to ask for help.

When you find the “I” in team, you’ve figured out who the asshole is. – James Dough

So, how to you impress you boss?  Just be a good person, who works hard. If you follow these rules, you’re ahead of the curve on your co-workers.

4 Easy Tips For Organization You Need to Try. Now!

Easy-organization-tips

Life getting too overwhelming? No worries, it happens to most of us. One recommendation I can make is to get yourself organized. With these easy tips for organization, you’re going to get ahead and enjoy your days more.

I know what you’re thinking, easier said than done, right? Well if you really want to make improvements, the best thing you can do is make changes in your current lifestyle. Here are four easy to try tips for improving your organization both at home and at work.

Strategic Thinking Is the Best Way to Tackle Any Big Project

On the top of my tips for organization is having a smart approach. What you should first do is come up with a step by step listing of the things or the place you want to organize. Office desk? Bathroom vanity? Closet drawers? Preparing this list will give you a clear idea of what needs to be done.

Not only that, it will also help convert a seemingly enormous task into something simple and approachable. With this approach, you are not doing any organizing, but just planning to organize – two very different things!

Buy Some Organizational Features to Help You Contain the Madness and Clutter

What motivates you to tidy up? Flipping through the pages of home improvement magazines that have the most organized homes or watching the coolest cribs on TV, of course. But, it is also important that you look at some of the organizational features in your home and office.

For example, if you deal with a lot of files and paperwork at work, you should consider purchasing an attractive file holder for your desk or a filing cabinet to hold all those files.

At home, if you are a shoe maniac, then buying a beautiful shoe rack will get rid of the shoe mess around your door area and also make your home look beautiful and sleek.

However, something important to consider is that buying a plethora of organizational pieces will not work for you unless you need them. For example, a bookshelf with no books serves no other purpose than crowding your home. Look around and see what you need then plan for some shopping.

Organize From Small to Big and You’re Less Likely to Give Up

Tidying up at times requires some motivation. It is, therefore, best to start with the tiniest spaces and move on to the larger spaces.

For example, if you are at home, starting with the bathroom will motivate you to move onto the living room or bedroom.

In the office, start by returning the scattered pens to the pot, stacking your files. This way, even when you stop, you will have made a lot of good progress.

Mastering the Art of Letting Go is Important For Tackling Multiple Problems

We are all hoarders to an individual level. We accumulate so much stuff starting from sentimental gifts to the things we buy across our lifetimes that before we know it, we are knee-dip into stuff we don’t need.

But, with holding on to all of those “things,” you also are holding on to some anxiety.

The best organization tip is only to keep the things that you use.  Let go of what you don’t need, and you’ll instantly notice how spacious your home or office becomes.

Tips for Organization…Bonus
